Ezekiel: Hope for the Hopeless

What robs you of hope? Perhaps the gloomy outlook and events presented by the news media feel overwhelming? Or maybe there is something closer to home—relational conflict, deep loss, or an uncertain future?

Earthly life in a fallen world can bring no end to the things that defeat and deflate us. But God never leaves His people without hope.

The book of Ezekiel documents the life and words of a prophet who lived in a hopeless time. Through a turbulent and humbling vision, God calls him to deliver His words to His people. It will be a toilsome task. His messages will be of impending judgement, but they will be delivered alongside promises of restoration.

In week one, chapters 1–3:11, experience the dramatic vision that God uses to call Ezekiel to his purpose and deliver His promise to strengthen him for the challenge ahead.

In week two, chapters 10–11, witness Ezekiel’s vision of God’s glory leaving the Jerusalem temple, the coming destruction of judgment, and God’s promise of future restoration.

In week three, chapters 26–29, see God pronounce judgment on Israel’s enemies and demonstrate the truth that all people and nations are accountable to the Sovereign Lord.

In week four, chapters 36:16–37:28, rest in Ezekiel’s prophetic account of God’s promise to cleanse, regenerate, and reunite His people.

In week five, chapters 40–48, be inspired by Ezekiel’s vision of a restored temple, inhabited once again by the glory of God and the right worship of Him.

The book of Ezekiel patterns the good news of the gospel. The gospel first confronts us with the hopelessness of who we are and what we face apart from God. We can’t race past this sobering truth because it opens our eyes to the glorious hope God offers us through Jesus. God never leaves His people without hope. Will you enter this book and discover God’s hope for the hopeless?
